Traditional Holiday Celebration
Bent's Old Fort National Historic Site 35110 Hwy 194, La Junta, COWitness the holiday pleasures and pastimes of the 1840s at an isolated trading post. Period games, cooking, foods, wagon rides, toy making, yule log hunt, and festivities will enliven the fort. Reservations are needed for the evening candlelight tours. Phone (719) 383-5026 starting November 1, 2018 for tour reservations.
Native American Heritage Day
Bent's Old Fort National Historic Site 35110 Hwy 194, La Junta, COThe park celebrates the close relationship between the fort and the tribes of the Plains. Talks, videos, displays, and demonstrations will highlight the stories of the Plains Tribes. Workshops may include Native American skills such as beadwork and parflechemaking (rawhide containers).
Hispanic Heritage Day
Bent's Old Fort National Historic Site 35110 Hwy 194, La Junta, COOne 19th-century visitor remarked that, "Spanish is the prevailing language spoken at the fort..." Come visit as the rich and colorful history of Mexico's frontier comes alive with period adobe work, music and dance, trading, cooking, storytelling, livestock use demonstrations and other special programs.
Kid’s Quarters
Bent's Old Fort National Historic Site 35110 Hwy 194, La Junta, COChildren ages 7 to 11 get to "step back in time" and experience the life of a trader, trapper, carpenter, blacksmith, laborer, trail traveler or cook. Pre-registration is required. Call (719)383-5026 for an applicaiton or print one off from the park website starting May 2, 2018.
Old-Fashioned Fourth

Bent's Old Fort National Historic Site 35110 Hwy 194, La Junta, COAdults are invited to take on a fur trade era role for the day. Be a hunter/trapper, carpenter, blacksmith, trader, domestic, or laborer. Living history interpreters teach historically accurate work skills. Space is limited and pre-registration is required.
